Have you received a phone call offering you an updated Medicare card, a back brace or knee brace? Or have you received an offer for a free DNA test kit? It is not uncommon for Medicare beneficiaries to receive these types of fraudulent solicitations. Any medical equipment or test paid for my Medicare must be ordered by your physician. If you receive one of these solicitations here a few tips to keep in mind:

It's National Consumer Protection Week

Scams cost Alabamians millions of dollars a year, and older adults are especially vulnerable. AARP Alabama is helping residents avoid becoming another statistic.

The annual Oregon Scam Jam will take place four Fridays in April. The Oregon Attorney General and other experts will provide information and tips during four virtual sessions to help residents fight against fraud.

As if not having electricity or running water wasn’t enough, now many Texans have additional things to worry about – scammers trying to take advantage of people in already very trying situations.
