In honor of Black History Month, AARP California is encouraging you to pass on your stories, your knowledge and your love as part of our month-long focus on family legacy. Throughout the month we will be highlighting Californian grandparents and their efforts to share stories and build legacy with their grandbabies. AARP Oklahoma livability surveys for the communities of Tulsa, Norman, Shawnee and Vinita have been extended to be open until February 28. The surveys will gather community feedback to determine attitudes and opinions on a variety of topics, such as housing, outdoor spaces, transportation and streets, health and wellness, social participation, educational opportunities, volunteering and civic engagement and job opportunities.
Tonight, when we tell our grandbabies a bedtime story…don’t tell them a fairy tale. Instead, pass on the stories of real African American heroes…from a man who started a movement with a dream, to a woman who helped put astronauts into space. We celebrate Black History Month by celebrating the real possibilities. Learn more about your dreams and possibilities at aarp.org/blackcommunity.
