This summer’s volunteer-driven AARP Foundation Summer of Service to Seniors engaged more than 7,700 volunteers in four cities to help raise awareness of hunger among older adults. Meal packing events in Memphis, Denver, the Twin Cities and Washington, D.C., drew volunteers of all ages and produced more than three million meals for seniors in those regions. AARP Connecticut members can save money and support local, nonprofit educational and cultural venues throughout the year, including Mystic Seaport, the nation’s leading maritime museum. Founded in 1929 to gather and preserve the rapidly disappearing artifacts of America’s seafaring past, the Museum has grown to become a national center for research and education with the mission to “inspire an enduring connection to the American maritime experience.”
AARP and Latina Magazine are keeping you in a "New York State of Mind" during Hispanic Heritage month by celebrating 20 Latino celebrities with Big Apple Roots!
AARP Nebraska announces two winners for the AARP Community Challenge, which is aiming to create change and improve quality of life at the community level. The winning projects include installation of wayfinding signage and benches in Hebron for increased walkability and start-up capital for recruitment and training of drivers for a ride-sharing system serving Kearney residents. Each project was partially or fully funded through the AARP Community Challenge grant and is set to be completed by November 1, 2017.
