AARP Wyoming is currently seeking a volunteer who can assist us in the Casper area. Hours are flexible. The position is highly collaborative with the volunteer serving as our "eyes and ears" in the community, helping us plan projects that are relevant to the age 50+ community in Natrona County. Interested? Contact Renee Gamino at 1-866-663-3290 or rgamino@aarp.org
A growing problem
Imagine performing life changing assistance, for just a few hours a month. Thousands of dedicated individuals do just that, as volunteers for the Massachusetts Money Management Program. Cosponsored by the AARP Foundation , Mass Home Care , and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs , the Massachusetts Money Management Program is a free service that assists low-income elders who might be at risk of losing their independence due to their inability to pay basic rent, food and utility bills on time. Volunteers help as bill payers, representative payees, and monitors.
The old adage “if you need something done, ask a busy person” could not apply to anyone better than Jane Ahern DeFillippi, AARP Massachusetts advocacy volunteer, pictured (in front) with state president Linda Fitzgerald. The semi-retired nurse and Melrose resident is passionate about aging and health issues, and active both in her community and at the State House, all while taking graduate courses, and singing in her church choir.
With more than 855,000 members statewide (as of Jan 2013), AARP Indiana's small, but mighty, staff relies on an extensive network of volunteers to help us in our goal of ensuring Hoosiers 50+ live their best lives possible. Our staff is led by AARP Indiana State Director June Lyle, and consists of Associate State Director for Communications Katie Moreau, Associate State Director for Community Outreach Mandla Moyo, Associate State Director for Advocacy Networks Sarah Waddle, Associate State Director for State Advocacy Ambre Marr, Senior Operations Administrator Cindy Lahr and Senior Program Assistant Mandy Suiter.
Governor's proposal would eliminate 240,000 meals
The future of Social Security and Medicare is too important to be decided behind closed doors in Washington. You’ve earned your benefits by paying into Social Security and Medicare for years – and we’re working hard to make your voice heard.
Last year, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers helped 30,000 Massachusetts residents with basic federal and state income tax returns, and questions. Russell Boutiette, 59, of Sutton himself helped 100 seniors prepare their taxes.
