To recognize their work to support family caregivers in Indiana, AARP has named State Senators Ed Charbonneau, Patricia Miller, Vaneta Becker and Mark Stoops, State Representatives Dennis Zent, Ed Clere, Karlee Macer and Charlie Brown and Governor Mike Pence as 2015 “Capitol Caregivers.” These elected officials – a bipartisan group of state and governors from across the country - have advanced policies to help family caregivers who are making it possible for their older loved ones to live independently at home—where they want to be.
Leslie “Les” Pence of Sheridan has been selected by AARP Indiana to receive the 2015 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service. This award, which is named after AARP’s founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, is AARP’s most prestigious volunteer tribute that recognizes outstanding individuals who are sharing their experience, talents and skills to enrich the lives of others. Les was recently presented with the award at AARP Indiana’s annual volunteer summit.
During our Caregiver Connection events, we heard overwhelmingly from participants that, regardless of where they are in their caregiving journey, they are in need of more resources and information. In particular, they are in need of state-specific information like contact information for the local Area Agency on Aging, the State Medicaid office, etc. To that end, we've developed this 225892 IN State caregiver resource guide_links . Click 225892 IN State caregiver resource guide_links to download, and print, the information. Or, if you'd like for us to send you a hard copy, email us at in@aarp.org. or call us toll-free at 866-448-3618. We're here to help those who help their loved ones day in and day out.
