This annual observance is a time to recognize and honor the rich histories, vibrant cultures, and countless contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities whose roots trace back to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Throughout the month, AARP Texas will host a dynamic lineup of events and activities across the state—highlighting the diversity, resilience, and cultural pride that shape our Hispanic heritage here in Texas.

Rodriguez assumes leadership of AARP Texas on Sept. 15 to work on behalf of AARP's 2.5 million Texas members. She will lead staff in Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and more than 400 volunteers statewide.
With nearly 2.5 million members in Texas, AARP Texas strengthens communities and advocates for what matters most to older Texans and their families, including health security, financial stability and personal fulfillment.
The State of Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) is sponsoring a series of meetings across the state. If you or someone you know is in one of the following programs AND you want to learn more about how you could hire your own caregiver and have more control, choice and responsibility, you are invited to attend a meeting.

AARP Texas joined a petition filed before the Public Utility Commission (PUC) today by Representative Sylvester Turner of Houston to prevent dangerous electricity disconnections this summer.

AUSTIN, TX --- The AARP Foundation reminds the public that it is still providing free tax assistance and preparation for taxpayers, both individuals and families, with low to moderate income through the AARP Tax-Aide program. AARP Tax-Aide, in its 41st year, is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service,giving special attention to people over age 60. The program provides assistance from February 1 through April 15. You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service.
Important local issues will be on the May 9th ballot but no statewide propositions according to the TX Secretary of State, Hope Andrade.
