Campaign ads using AARP name are unauthorized

The Elizabeth Pannill Fletcher for Congress campaign is running a political ad in Texas’ 7th Congressional District that cites AARP on issues regarding the age-tax for people ages 50+. While AARP is an advocate for affordable health care for older adults and their families, AARP did not authorize this ad to reference AARP nor did AARP participate in the production of such ads.

AARP has a proud history of non-partisan voter engagement, providing voters with information on where the candidates stand on issues important to our members and their families, so they can make their own decisions on Election Day.

AARP urges all candidates to address voters’ concerns on issues like Medicare, Social Security, prescription drugs, Medicaid and family caregiving.

AARP also encourages its members and all Americans to ask questions so they understand where the candidates stand on these and other important issues and choose the candidates that best reflect their views and values.

Ultimately, AARP urges members and Americans to pledge to vote at aarp.org/vote.
