As the COVID-19 crisis carries over into the new year, AARP in Houston wants to help family caregivers overcome feelings of isolation, emotional fatigue and other struggles, and to begin 2021 with renewed spirit.
The year’s first Prepare to Care podcast episode will focus on physical and mental well-being.
Family and sports medicine expert Alberto Almeida, M.D., will discuss how caregivers can safely get more exercise, which is crucial to physical and mental health. The Asia Society of Houston will offer tips on keeping the mind healthy with regular meditation.
And Urban Harvest, a local nonprofit that focuses on community gardening and more, will dish up wholesome recipes.
The new episode will launch on Monday, Jan. 4, and can be found on aarp.org/houstonptc, Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud.com and other platforms. Spanish-language versions can be found at aarp.org/sabesque.
