AARP AARP States Texas Caregiving

Obstacles Asian Americans Face

A 2020 report revealed that half of the Asian American caregivers say the person they care for lives with them in their home, more common than non-Hispanic whites.

Also, more Asian caregivers find their role highly emotionally stressful, more so than either African American or Hispanic caregivers. The anxiety level Asian caregivers feel has been magnified by the recent Asian-targeted attacks

In this latest episode of the AARP Prepare to Care Podcast, Daphne Kwok, VP of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion with AARP and AARP Executive Council member Beverly Gor join host Charlene Hunter James. They speak candidly about caregiving issues in the Asian American community and the recent violent attacks on members of that community.

While caregiving was the topic of all our Prepare to Care podcasts, we could not finish recording this episode without discussing the recent attacks on Asian Americans that have occurred.
