Communities across The Virgin Islands are working to become more livable for residents of all ages.

Español | AARP in The Virgin Islands, alongside their 2021 AARP Community Challenge Grant Grantee, VI Trail Alliance and Partners, announce the opening of the Windsor Farm Trails Network, a project to reopen and improve the walking and biking trails at Windsor Farm, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.
Español | AARP in The Virgin Islands supported the passage of Bill No. 34-0040, an Act to Establish the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) to create a Multistate Nursing License in the Virgin Islands. It was approved by the Health, Hospitals, and Human Services Committee and the Committee on Rules and Judiciary earlier in the year. It was signed into law by Governor Albert Bryan Jr. on December 6, 2021.
Today, AARP in The Virgin Islands announced two Virgin Islands organizations would receive 2021 Community Challenge grants – part of the largest group of grantees to date, with $3.2 million awarded among 244 organizations nationwide. Grantees will implement quick-action projects to promote livable communities by improving housing, transportation, public spaces, civic engagement, and connection with family, friends, and neighbors with an emphasis on the needs of the 50-plus. Many of this year’s awards support revitalizing communities adversely impacted by the pandemic and include a focus on diversity, inclusion, and disparities.
AARP in The Virgin Islands and the VI Department of Sports, Parks, and Recreation are pleased to announce an AARP Sponsored Outdoor Fitness Park in Christiansted, St. Croix, at the Altona Lagoon, a long-term investment in the health of residents. This donation from AARP includes funding for fitness classes at the park for people of all ages. The AARP Sponsored Outdoor Fitness Park is open to people of all ages, though young children must be supervised by an adult.
