Meet our volunteers and find opportunities to get involved with our outreach and community service programs.
Everyone has the time and talents to make meaningful changes in their community; which is why AARP Virginia and the Fairfax County Department of Family Services have teamed up for the Boomers and Older Adults Venture into Volunteering Fair. The event will take place on June 2, 2017 from 10 a.m. – noon at the Franconia Moose Lodge, located on 7701 Beulah Street, Alexandria, VA 22315.
You are invited to attend the Blacksburg Chapter's monthly meetings held every third Tuesday of the month at the Blacksburg Community Center from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm located at 725 Patrick Henry Drive .
Take pride in your town and join us 9:00 am -noon Saturday, April 22nd to help keep Altavista beautiful. Bring a team or ask friends and co-workers, organization, school club/team, or church and volunteer. To volunteer, call the chamber office 369-6665, or visit online at www.altavistachamber.com. Each participant will be provided with gloves, trash bags, and assigned a location.
Do you like to write, or are you an amateur photographer? Maybe you're a Facebook or Twitter expert. Join our volunteer communications team -- the Virtual Volunteer Newsroom -- and tell the world about what AARP Virginia is doing in your community. Your job would be to attend AARP events in your area, take photos, post to social media, and write a story about what happened. If you've ever wanted to join the world of journalism, now is your chance!

AARP Virginia has presented Warren Stewart of Norfolk with the President’s Award for Community Service and introduced Melvin Evans of Windsor as the organization’s volunteer State President.
AARP Virginia has presented Denise Coates of Herndon with the 2016 Gordon Morton Award for Volunteer Service and Bob Blancato of Arlington with the President’s Award.
AARP Virginia recognized Bill Lukhard of Richmond and the AARP Richmond North Chapter at its annual awards ceremony.
