AARP is excited to announce 159 awards as part of its 2019 AARP Community Challenge Grant program, including two grantees in the District of Columbia: Community Foodworks and Safe Routes Partnership. Learn about their projects to increase access to healthy food and make the District more livable for residents of all ages.
AARP is proud to co-present Lawn, an immersive installation at the National Building Museum now through September 2, 2019. AARP members are eligible for a ticket discount, and invited to two free AARP Movies for Grownups film screenings this August!
District residents should feel secure in the knowledge that the law protects their valuable assets from fraud. The proposed Uniform Power of Attorney Act (UPOAA) not only modernizes District law but would also act like a permission slip for the Power of Attorney (POA), financial institutions, and community creating distinct rules that protect seniors and vulnerable individuals.
Here at AARP, we are committed to helping all older adults live their lives with dignity and honor — that includes those who are lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and others.
Take advantage of AARP’s Smart Driver course, a refresher tutorial that can be taken in person or online. If you complete the course, you could earn a discount on your automobile insurance (contact your agent to learn more).
The votes are in – the Council of the District of Columbia passed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 budget unanimously. We are pleased to share with you the results of your collective advocacy efforts.
AARP District of Columbia is recruiting volunteers for the AARP Foundation Experience Corps, to tutor and mentor children from pre-K to third grade in the 2019-20 academic year.
