Helping Job Seekers 50+ Get Back to Work

Proud to be in business

Fifty-plus and looking for work? AARP West Virginia is hosting a series of seminars sponsored by the AARP Foundation Back to Work 50+ program.

January is prime time for hiring, and the seminars will help candidates write eye-catching résumés, interview effectively and find local job-skills training.

West Virginia’s unemployment rate has dropped since reaching a high of 10 percent in February 2010. But a May 2012 report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office shows workers 55 and older are more likely than younger ones to experience extended unemployment—and took three times as long to find work during the Great Recession as before the downturn.
