CHEYENNE, Wyo. — AARP Wyoming and The Picklr, a pickleball facility at 3741 East Lincolnway in Cheyenne, are teaming up to offer two free Pickleball Play events on Thursday, October 16 and Thursday, November 20, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Last month, AARP Wyoming State President Stella Montano and I joined AARP leaders from across all 50 states as we took to Capitol Hill with a clear, unified message: do right by America’s 50+ population. As part of AARP’s 2025 Lobby Day, volunteers and staff held over 400 meetings with lawmakers in the House and Senate to press for action on the issues that matter most—protecting Social Security, preventing harmful cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and providing real support to the nation’s 48 million family caregivers.
Sheridan’s Community Action Team (CAT) saddled up for a meaningful cause during this year’s annual WYO Rodeo Parade, bringing AARP’s fraud prevention message to thousands along the parade route. With the spirited theme, “AARP: Lassoing Fraud,” CAT members creatively spotlighted the importance of protecting seniors and the community from scams and financial fraud.
AARP Wyoming and United Way's 211 service have partnered to expand access to caregiver support resources. This collaboration allows caregivers to easily connect with local 211 specialists who can help them find services like transportation, food delivery, home safety, respite care, and more. This summer marks the 90th anniversary of Social Security—one of the most important and effective programs in American history. Since 1935, it has been a lifeline for millions of Americans, providing critical financial support and peace of mind after a lifetime of hard work.
When 12-year-old Dagny created a school video about her grandfather’s service in Vietnam, she had no idea it would lead to a life-changing trip to the nation’s capital—thanks to AARP Wyoming. What followed was a powerful journey of remembrance, bonding, and discovery for three generations of one Wyoming family—and a moving reminder of how AARP continues to honor veterans and connect families through meaningful support.
AARP recently worked with Wish of a Lifetime, a charitable AARP affiliate, to send 16 Wyoming veterans age 65 and over to tour military memorials in Washington, D.C.
Therese shares her story about surviving cancer, navigating life as a social worker, and now having worries about Social Security cuts threatening the stability she has fought hard to maintain.
Among the breakout sessions will be Baier’s presentation on AARP’s six pillars of brain health. The six pillars of brain health include: being social, engaging your brain, managing stress, ongoing exercise, restorative sleep, and eating right. AARP Wyoming has made brain health education a priority. Each week we offer a robust series of online classes held via zoom that are free and open to the public. Anyone of any age can join.
