Minnesota | Volunteering The Minnesota state office is seeking volunteers for AARP Experience Corps, which engages adults age 50-plus in efforts to improve literacy among schoolchildren in grades K-3. Volunteers work with students individually or in small groups under a classroom teacher’s supervision. In the 2012-13 school year, 73 volunteers spent nearly 23,000 hours tutoring about 700 students in 11 schools in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Advocacy | Events | Minnesota | Money & Work | Press ST.PAUL — AARP Minnesota today unveiled a statewide survey that showed a growing concern over retirement savings in the Gopher State.  The survey engaged 1,000 Minnesotans over the age of 45 and found that 76 percent felt that they have not yet saved enough to retire and 72 percent support the idea of a state created retirement plan for those who lack access at their place of work.
