On Monday, AARP Florida staff and volunteers brought a powerful message to the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC): Florida’s older residents, families, and those living on fixed incomes can’t afford another costly utility rate increase.

Republican nominee Winsome Earle-Sears, the current Lieutenant Governor, declined the invitation due to a scheduling conflict. Former U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger’s campaign accepted the debate invitation on behalf of the Democratic nominee in July.

For ninety years, Social Security has provided a stable and reliable foundation for the retirement security of millions of Americans.

Throughout August, AARP is partnering with cities and local governments across Florida to illuminate buildings, monuments, and to sign proclamations as part of the Skyline Salute, a nationwide tribute honoring Social Security’s 90th anniversary.

America marks Social Security’s 90th Anniversary on August 14. 90 years ago, our country made a promise to provide hardworking Americans with a way to earn a foundation for financial security in retirement. This year, AARP is proudly celebrating Social Security’s legacy while fighting to protect and strengthen it for older Americans today and for our kids and grandkids tomorrow.

The clinics will consist of an on-court guided session with licensed instructors and focus on warm-up, basic technique, skills building, and gameplay for players of all levels.
