On Thursday, September 24, 2015, AARP hosted its first “Dine and Dish” event in Manhattan at American Whiskey. More than 70 AARP members and their guests joined AARP staff to connect, mingle and learn more about what AARP is doing to make New York City a better place to live, work and play for all ages.
More than 80 Suffolk County residents attended a free Medicare workshop at the Riverhead Free Library earlier this month. Riverhead AARP volunteers, in partnership with HIICAP, RSVP Suffolk, and EPIC, hosted this workshop for participants who were interested in learning how to navigate and make informed decisions about Medicare coverage.
Long-time AARP volunteer and Town of North Hempstead Volunteer Team Coordinator, Jack Kott, was honored as Organizer of the Year by AARP New York at a recent awards luncheon in Melville’s Blackstone Restaurant. Jack’s role as the Town Coordinator was the first step in taking on greater leadership in the AARP volunteer community on Long Island. He has become known for his focus and passion in both the Village of Great Neck Plaza and the Town of North Hempstead as they’ve joined and work through the process associated with membership in the network of Age Friendly Communities.
