With one week left to go, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers are busier than ever – helping thousands of Bay State residents with their tax returns and questions. As part of our ongoing spotlight series, we headed to the South Middlesex Opportunity Council in Framingham, where we met volunteers TC Kung and his wife Shirley. As a team, TC and Shirley dealt with a group of clients young and 'older' and from varied backgrounds, garnered from the community's diverse population.

As part of our ongoing spotlight series, we headed to Brockton Council on Aging. Here we met site coordinator Dean Strack and his team of volunteers. Dean hustled and bustled clients in quickly and smoothly, all while keeping a smile on their faces and tax-time stress levels at a minimum. Though many were a bit ‘camera-shy’, we talked to several clients, who expressed their appreciation for all AARP Foundation Tax-Aide does to help them year in and year out.
STATEWIDE – Thinking about using your decades of experience to start a business of your own? This April, as part of National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Month, AARP and the Small Business Association (SBA) will host “How to Start or Grow Your Own Business,” events in Springfield, Methuen, Worcester, and Plymouth. Designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs age 50+ put start-up plans into action, the workshops will feature experts and resources to help with topics ranging from writing a business plan to seeking start-up capital.

In honor of National Consumer Protection Week, AARP has teamed up with the U.S. Postal Service and the Postal Inspection Service to combat foreign lottery fraud, one of most malicious scams targeting older Americans today.
