The Senior Expo is for anyone age 50 and above. General session address, workshop sessions, and Zumba will be conducted by AARP GA. No registration is required.
A new AARP study identifies an online victim profile based on 15 key behaviors and life experiences that increase a person’s vulnerability to online fraud. The report, “Caught in the Scammer’s Net,” surveyed over 11,000 people nationally and 988 in Georgia. The national study, which compared victims and non-victims, finds that it is the combination of online behaviors and life experiences that put a person at the greatest risk of being scammed.
The numbers are in, and they are impressive – Georgia residents on Medicare saved over $270 million on their prescription drugs in 2013, thanks to the closing of the “donut hole” for prescriptions under the Affordable Care Act – or an average discount per beneficiary of $894.

AARP Georgia is hosting a Health Insurance Marketplace to help Macon residents learn more and get assistance in enrollment. The free event will take place Thursday, March 20, 2014, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wingate by Wyndham, (Between Cracker Barrel & Cheddar's), 100 Northcrest Boulevard, (Riverside), Macon.
AARP Georgia is hosting the 50+ Job Fair in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) on Thursday, March 20 in DeKalb County for workers 50 years old and older. The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lou Walker Senior Center, 2538 Panola Road in Lithonia.
Atlanta Motor Speedway will host an American Street Car Series autocross event during the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama on April 26-27. The American Street Car Series, which hosts autocross events around the country, will coordinate an autocross open to all show participants. The competition is open for autocross veterans, as well as drivers interested in giving it a try. There is no additional charge for the autocross competition as it is included with the show participant entry fee.
This year, AARP Foundation is again providing free tax assistance and preparation for taxpayers with low to moderate income through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, in its 45th year, is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service , giving special attention those 60 and older. You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this free service.
