AARP is focusing on two of the most pressing concerns of older Americans—work and retirement security—in a free statewide conference called “Work@50+.” Scheduled for Nov. 2 at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, the daylong conference is expected to attract more than 500 attendees. Sessions will cover such topics as social media for job seekers and entrepreneurship.
Many older workers can’t afford to retire yet remain unemployed longer than younger people. Only 6 in 10 working boomers express optimism about their retirement years.
