Continuing the efforts to ensure that transportation issues do not prohibit residents from being able to vote in this year’s election, AARP Indiana is sponsoring fare-free rides on the public transit systems in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Gary, and Evansville on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.

AARP Arizona State Director Dana Marie Kennedy and Associate State Director of Community Outreach Brenda Holt have been selected as recipients of the Inaugural 50 Over 50 Awards presented by FSL (Foundation for Senior Living). Honorees were recognized for their outstanding service to aging Arizonans at FSL’s 50th anniversary event held on October 22 at the Renaissance Hotel in Phoenix.

As voters prepare for the upcoming general election on Tuesday, Nov. 5, AARP Michigan is excited to introduce “Paula,” a new digital tool designed to answer questions about voting in Michigan. This avatar chatbot engages with visitors in nearly any language, providing clear, voice-to-voice responses to questions about voting procedures, who’s on the ballot and more.

The Chicago Architecture Center has a new exhibit focusing on downtown livability, "Loop as Lab". Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are residential living units on the same lot as a single-family or primary dwelling. AARP Iowa is working to expand access to this housing option by championing a statewide ADU law that would give all Iowans the right to build an ADU on their property, reducing unnecessary regulations and red tape.

You may not think of yourself as a family caregiver, but if you are helping someone with daily activities, like getting dressed, medication management and transportation to and from appointments, then you are a family caregiver. Today, more than 1 in 5 Americans are caring for a family member or close friend, and while it is one of the most important roles you may play, it is often stressful and overwhelming.

If successful, the ballot measure will maintain the Regional Transportation District’s funding without raising taxes.
