As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. In Wyoming, Governor Gordon has declared a public welfare emergency to ensure that food assistance continues (for now), but this can still put pressure on local organizations and food banks dedicated to feeding hungry Wyomingites.

As part of Family Caregivers Month, AARP New York reached out to legislators so they could share their caregiving stories and why they believe it’s important to highlight services for caregivers. New Jersey groups have received 47 grants totaling more than $586,000 since the AARP Community Challenge program began in 2017. These quick-action projects focus on livability, improving infrastructure and creating gathering spaces.
