Now through April 17, AARP Foundation is providing free tax assistance and preparation through its Tax-Aide program. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, celebrating its 50 th year, is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service. Since its inception, the program has served more than 50 million taxpayers.

Today, I want to chat about a philosophy and model of health care that offers tremendous hope to patients and families confronted by the daunting challenges of chronic and/or terminal illness—palliative care—an unfamiliar term for most folks. But you’ve probably heard of hospice care, right? Well, hospice is a specific type of palliative care. Now I realize the word “hospice” may have you reaching for the mute button. The idea of hospice - end of life care—is frightening to most people. But it’s vitally important for you and your family to understand what hospice has to offer. Then, you can make an informed decision instead of merely reacting out of fear. So find a cozy spot. Pour a cup of coffee. And RELAX. It’s time to chat!

While job hunting, my husband, Michael Lindenberger, and I noticed that we weren’t getting any responses from employers even though our resumes matched their required skills and qualifications. Fearing our age may be a factor, I suggested taking graduation dates off our resumes. It was disheartening to think that age discrimination in the workplace is alive and well, but we knew it was a plausible explanation for the lack of interest from employers.
