AARP Connecticut was pleased to honor the AARP Bridgeport Chapter #831 with the 2016 Chapter of the Year Award in October. The Bridgeport Chapter also received the Chapter of the Year Award in 2011.
In 2015, Connecticut became one of 18 states to support family caregivers with the CARE Act. The law, which passed with bi-partisan support during the 2015 legislative session, supports the 500,000 family caregivers in Connecticut as their loved ones go into the hospital and as they transition home.
The 2016 elections will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, and your vote counts more than ever. We created an election guide on the AARP Connecticut local community web page to help you get ready. So visit the sub-topic page on the site where you can find a Take A Stand Congressional Action Chart, lookup polling places in your community, where your candidates stand on Social Security, and more.
From conversations on creating a secure financial future, to learning how to protect yourself against fraud, to discovering your “what’s next,” to gaining skills for a job search, and more, AARP Connecticut hosts numerous events across a wide variety of topics in communities throughout the state every month. The events are open to the public, and while some require registration, others do not. For questions, contact AARP Connecticut Community Outreach Director Erica Michalowski at 860-548-3163 or emichalowski@aarp.org.
