Florida’s 2015 legislative session is over, and the votes are in. AARP Florida kept watch and has produced a guide showing how lawmakers voted on key issues affecting Floridians age 50-plus.

Highlights include assisted-living reform to increase consumer protections and regulatory oversight of such facilities. The legislature also passed an AARP-supported law requiring hospitals to notify patients in their discharge papers if their hospitalization was classified as an observation stay or an inpatient admission. This is vital because a patient must be admitted for three days in order to receive Medicare coverage of post-discharge rehabilitation services.

AARP does not endorse candidates but does take a stand on key issues. The guide helps keep citizens informed of legislators’ votes on issues ranging from fraud prevention to long-term care. To read the guide, go to aarp.org/fl.
