Nine entities in Georgia received 2025 AARP Community Challenge grants, ranging from $2,000 to $25,000 and totaling nearly $110,000. Projects focus on disaster preparedness, home safety, internet access and digital literacy.

Annual Award Recognizes Volunteers Who Make a Powerful Difference in their Community
On behalf of the 1.3 million AARP members in Georgia, we want to congratulate Gov. Brian Kemp, sworn in Monday as Georgia’s 83rd governor, as well as members of the 2019-2020 state legislature, which began its 40-day session today.

Voters age 50 and older were the deciding factor in last year’s midterm elections, according to the National Election Pool Exit Poll results. The findings confirmed that 50-plus voters made up the majority of voters, 51 percent here in Georgia. Candidates who ignored these voters, Georgia’s most powerful voting group, paid a price on Election Day.
