AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has kicked off volunteer recruitment for its Tax-Aide program, the nation’s largest volunteer-run tax-preparation service. The foundation is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season and is accepting new volunteers through the end of October.

Caring for a parent, spouse, or other loved one can be a 24/7 job that is emotionally, physically and financially difficult. That’s why AARP works tirelessly to support family caregivers, striving to make your big responsibilities a little bit easier.

AARP Kansas announced that the Coffeyville Area Community Foundation is one of 159 communities across the country to receive an AARP Community Challenge Grant. The AARP Community Challenge grant program awarded a total of nearly $1.6 million for “quick action” projects across the country, helping communities make immediate improvements and jumpstart long-term progress to support residents of all ages.

AARP recognizes and values the spirit of volunteerism and the important contributions volunteers make to their state and communities. We couldn't do our work without them. Volunteers provide extraordinary service each day to improve the quality of life for Kansans. In order to celebrate our volunteers, each year we have a special ceremony to thank them for their service and to highlight the work of those who have gone above and beyond in their service to AARP and to our state.

Beginning July 1, Kansas drivers will be able to take just four hours—not eight—of a road safety refresher classroom course, thanks to a new law that was passed by the Kansas Legislature and signed by Governor Laura Kelley. AARP Kansas worked with representatives from AAA and the Kansas Traffic Safety Resource Office to get the bill passed by the 2019 Kansas Legislature.
