Facebook isn’t just for teens and college kids. It can be a good way for members of older generations to stay in touch with younger relatives, especially around the holidays.

In cooperation with the Algiers Regional Library, AARP Louisiana is offering classes on how to use Facebook and other social media. Of Americans age 50-plus who have Internet access, 37 percent use some kind of social media, a 2010 AARP study found.

The free classes are scheduled on Thursdays, Nov. 7, 14 and 21 and Dec. 5, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Classes meet in the library’s computer lab at 3104 Holiday Drive, New Orleans.

To register, call 504-485-2164 or email la@aarp.org.
