AARP Montana is teaming up with the Montana Office on Aging and a coalition of groups focused on senior issues to sponsor the annual Governor’s Conference on Aging. The theme of this year’s event is “Rock Your Age” with a focus on healthy lifestyles. The event is slated for September 25 – 27, 2018 at the Radisson Colonial Hotel in Helena.
The Governor’s Conference on Aging will feature speakers, workshops and resources to help participants make the most of aging. Sponsored by the state and a coalition including AARP Montana, the conference runs Tuesday, Sept. 25, through Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Radisson Colonial Hotel in Helena.
Montana’s Women 4 Wellness health fair, a much-anticipated annual event, is offering more than 30 free screenings this year for conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Many participants in previous years said they came for screenings they otherwise could not afford.
The annual Women 4 Wellness health fair, credited with saving lives, will offer more than 30 screenings this year, helping Flathead Indian tribal members and other women in Lake County detect conditions ranging from breast cancer and diabetes to heart disease and thyroid problems. AARP Montana is cosponsoring the event on Thursday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a new AARP survey released today, 8 in 10 say that taking a stand on Social Security is a basic threshold for Presidential leadership. The survey of likely voters age 50+ also shows nearly 40% are dissatisfied with their retirement savings and nearly half of voters worry they won’t be able to achieve their financial goals over the next five years (49%). 4 in 10 (40%) still don’t know for certain which party’s presidential candidate they’ll choose in the 2016 general election.
