Few things are as deeply woven into the fabric of our nation as Social Security. For over eight decades, this bedrock program has offered economic security and dignity to millions of retirees, people with disabilities, and surviving spouses and children. It is a sacred promise between the government and the American people who pay in and earn their Social Security over a lifetime of hard work.

Every election season, AARP advocates for the issues that are important to Granite Staters 50-plus. Our volunteers are our boots on ground at campaign events where they ask questions and get every candidate on the record about where they stand on the issues that matter the most to our members and all people age 50-plus.
Candidates who support the issues most important to Americans ages 50-plus can improve their margin significantly in close 2024 races, according to a new AARP poll. The poll, which surveyed likely voters from the 40 most competitive congressional districts, found caregiving to be a pivotal top issue for voters 50+. Americans 50+ are the largest – and perhaps the most crucial – voting bloc.

The New Hampshire legislature finished the 2023 session having notched several wins for older adults in the state. AARP is proud that our lobbying efforts and the engagement of our members and volunteers helped to achieve policy changes that fulfill AARP’s mission: to empower people to choose how they live as they age.
