As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

New Data Show 26% Of Adults In New Jersey Provide Care, Spotlighting Urgent Need for Action to Support Family Caregivers
The AARP Pickleball Clinic experience is coming to New Jersey and we are excited to offer you a chance to learn and play this popular sport! The clinics will consist of an on-court guided session with licensed instructors and focus on warm up, basic technique, skills building, and game play for players of all levels. Pickleball is a fun way to connect with friends, stay fit* and support your brain to help your health and happiness live as long as you do.
This has been a busy week for President Donald Trump. He’s been signing executive orders, holding high-level meetings — and tweeting up a storm. All of this makes it clear that our 45 th president is eager to deliver quickly on the promises he made during his campaign.
Every day, AARP fights for New Jerseyans, focused on the issues they face in their daily lives. To be successful, this work depends on the elected officials who write, support, and move legislation; who work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get things done; and who come together on critical votes that turn bills into law.
More than a third of Garden Staters are 50-plus, and to help keep them informed, AARP New Jersey is posting videos on its Facebook page. The series, called Your Life at 50+, is also on YouTube.

Frank Abagnale, a security consultant to the FBI for more than 40 years, will offer tips on how to avoid scams at an AARP Fraud Watch Network event at the Ellora in Edison on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
In 2014, New Jersey became the second state in the nation, following Oklahoma, to support family caregivers with the CARE Act. The law, which became effective on May 12, 2015, supports the 1.75 million family caregivers in New Jersey as their loved ones go into the hospital and as they transition home.
