Need a little more drama in your life? AARP Long Island has your ticket—to the theater.
AARP Long Island members and their guests can enjoy discounted tickets to musical performances at several local theaters, including the Argyle Theatre (Babylon), the John W. Engeman Theater (Northport) and the Cultural Arts Playhouse (Syosset).
Each theater will offer 20 percent off tickets to select shows through the end of the year. Among the musicals on offer: Grease, Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville and Bye Bye Birdie.
The AARP theater discount program is restarting after a three-year hiatus triggered by the pandemic. Bernard Macias, associate state director of AARP Long Island, says he’s in talks with other theaters about similar agreements.
“One of the great things about living on Long Island is that we have so many wonderful theaters,” Macias says. “Theater attracts people of all ages.”
