AARP Eye Center
The heart of the quest for LGBTQ+ rights is in New York’s Greenwich Village at the Stonewall Inn. In 1969, same-sex dancing could mean being arrested and when police raided the Inn on Friday, June 27, this time they were met with defiance.
The Stonewall Riots cemented New York City’s place in history and led to a movement for equal rights and respect.
While June is Pride Month, AARP stands with LGBTQ+ members, non-members, allies, and partner organizations year round. AARP’s unwavering commitment to the LGBTQ+ audience reflects our core belief in the dignity, worth and potential of every individual.
And in June, we proudly celebrate.
Join us this month for a series of FREE programs—educational, practical and fun—to mark Pride Month.
