Find Your Inner Warrior: Yoga for Strengthening and Resiliency

Online exercise at home with webcam

Unleash your inner warrior through the transformative power of yoga! AARP NY is happy to share a virtual yoga series.  In this series, two variations of yoga practices Chair Yoga and Kundalini are demonstrated to encourage self-care. Yoga is a powerful tool used to enhance mood and well-being, as well as foster mindfulness. Yoga instructors will teach two beginner-level courses with easily adjustable moves.

Chair yoga offers an adaptive and modifiable exercise without compromising any of the positive physical and mental benefits that yoga promises. Chair yoga is an ideal exercise for those suffering from chronic pain or have limited mobility as this exercise offers modified poses but still delivers the benefits of yoga. In addition to an improved mood, yoga improves posture, strength, and flexibility while reducing stress and tension.

In the second part of our yoga series, we introduce the ancient art of Kundalini yoga, well known for its association with the transformation of energy and consciousness. Through breath and movement, dormant energy stored at the base of the spine is activated and channeled upward. Kundalini yoga is a unique practice that leaves the student energized and more cognizant of where their energy flows. These moves are easily modifiable and suitable for any fitness level. Through our yoga series, we encourage you to implement these practices into daily life to fully reap the abundant rewards that yoga offers.
