All of New York’s state legislative seats—63 in the Senate and 150 in the Assembly—are up for election this November.
AARP New York has created a checklist of questions that voters can ask their local candidates at forums and other public events. The questions focus on issues important to voters 50-plus, such as prescription drug costs and support for caregivers.
“It’s a critical part of our democracy to have citizens participating, having their voice heard,” says David McNally, AARP New York’s senior director of government affairs and advocacy. “Older people vote in larger percentages than anyone else.”
