AARP North Carolina Helps Support Healing with CAARE and its Outreach to Veterans

 

 

DURHAM - AARP North Carolina provided Durham’s Healing with CAARE with a one-thousand dollar contribution today to help support the services they provide to area Veterans.

According to AARP North Carolina Director Doug Dickerson, “AARP understands the needs of our Veterans and their families. From our advocacy efforts to our caregiving resources and other benefits, we address the unique challenges confronting our nation's heroes. Veterans in the Triangle face big challenges when it comes to work and jobs, caregiving, affordable housing and food insecurity. CAARE is instrumental in supporting Veterans and helping them remain an active part of the community.

CAARE offers affordable and decent housing for male veterans who are transitioning back into civilian life. It can help residents become self-sufficient, and CAARE’s staff makes transitional housing a stable residential experience. Clients are able to use all of CAARE’s services, including hot meals from the community kitchen and the food pantry.
