Help Celebrate Our Veterans and Those Who Serve

Veterans Day Weekend Free Celebration, Saturday, November 11

 WILMINGTON -- Veterans Day Weekend is the perfect time to honor those who serve. Join AARP, area Veterans organizations and others at “Celebration of Our Freedom,” from 12:30 pm until 5 pm, on Saturday, November 11, at Battleship Park in Wilmington.

The Celebration will include an opportunity to meet and thank Veterans, information to improve your

health and wealth, kids’ activities, live music with the Brunswick Big Band, food trucks, and more. AARP and the Laney High School honor guard will also be conducting a flag exchange. Bring us your worn stars and stripes and you’ll receive a new one for free.

You can also start the day on November 11 at 9:30 am at Wilmington's First Annual Veterans Day Parade. Veteran's Day is intended to thank all those who honorably served in the military, in war time or peace time.  The parade in Downtown Wilmington will start at Cape Fear Community College parking lot on Front Street and end at the USO Building, 120 S. 2nd Street. Come find AARP for information and give-aways at the Protect Medicare van at the street fair and celebration that will follow the parade.
