AARP Ohio

As a presidential campaign battleground state and host to the Republican National Convention, Ohio has an opportunity to put the spotlight on candidates. AARP staff and volunteers are crisscrossing the state, urging candidates to explain their plans to keep Social Security in top financial shape and to take a leadership role on the issue.

At 21 years of age, I feel as though I am in the prime of my life. I’m almost done with my college education, I’m a tech-savvy millennial in a digital world and well into my summer internship.

Step up to the plate with AARP by joining us at Progressive Field to watch some Indians baseball this summer!

Today I joined volunteers and staff from Ohio headed to Washington to advocate on behalf of AARP members and all older Americans on the crucial issues of Family Caregiving and Social Security. While meeting with members of Congress, we carried these crucial asks:

In the past year alone one-quarter of Ohioans 18 and older have had their personal information exposed to identity theft and fraud. And our latest research shows that older Americans are scammed out of about $3 billion every single year. Making sure that all Ohioans are not only aware of the latest fraud schemes, but are also armed with the tools and resources to prevent and recover from fraud is the goal of our AARP Fraud Watch Network. So I was pleased to represent AARP last week when the Ohio Attorney General’s Office held a press conference to launch “Ohio Protects”, a new multi-media outreach initiative to increase Ohioans’ awareness of the most common scams, fraud, and identity theft and how they can protect themselves.
