From July 26 th through August 6 th, nearly 170 volunteers from around Ohio traveled to the 2017 Ohio State Fair in Columbus to staff the AARP booth. We couldn’t have asked for a more energized and enthusiastic team of Buckeyes to interact with fair goers about issues that impact all Ohioans.
AARP Ohio is cosponsoring the 2017 Midwest Black Family Reunion, Aug. 18-20, in Cincinnati. The annual event celebrates the historic strengths and values of the black family.
AARP Ohio...your PRIDE was showing! Columbus PRIDE took place the weekend of June 16th and 17th with attendance estimated at over 500,000! AARP Ohio was proud to sponsor the Trailblazer Lounge for Stonewall Columbus’ Central Ohio Group for LGBTQA Adults 50+. Volunteers visited the lounge throughout the weekend to share information and talk about AARP’s commitment to the LGBT community and how we can work together in the future.

Northeast Ohio resident Semanthie Brooks, ACSW, LISW, has recently been appointed to the AARP Ohio Executive Council. Executive Council members are appointed volunteers, who work with the Ohio office and other volunteers to provide ongoing strategic direction for state activities in support of AARP priority issues framed by the AARP National Board of Directors.
As the 132 nd General Session for Ohio convened, Speaker of the House Cliff Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) announced the formation of a new standing committee on Aging & Long-Term Care to focus on the strategies and solutions that can support Ohioans and their families

Our veterans have served our country with pride, and AARP Ohio is proud to host our first Caring for Veterans and Their Caregivers information and resource fair on Saturday, November 12 with the Cleveland Veterans Administration. We want to ensure that veterans and their caregivers have access to resources that help them live a healthy life.
