AARP Massachusetts is urging lawmakers to support vital measures that uplift older adults and caregivers; paying spouses as caregivers, increasing personal needs allowances, and protections for vulnerable MassHealth applicants. All three issues were part of a July 1st healthcare hearing

Americans reported $9 billion in losses to fraud in 2022—from fake sweepstakes to romance scams. In the current legislative session, AARP Minnesota is pressing state lawmakers to pass a bill that would create a state-level restitution fund for fraud victims. AARP is also targeting 40-year home contracts.
As natural disasters pummel the state, AARP Tennessee is working with the Red Cross to help older residents prepare for — and recover from — Mother Nature’s wrath. In addition to hosting a telephone town hall, the organizations are sharing vital supplies in a storm’s aftermath and resources to get ready for the next one.
AARP Volunteer Shauna Smith, a retired college professor, is embarking on an inspiring mission to preserve Tallahassee’s rich history by collecting stories of people who have a connection to the Florida A&M University (FAMU) hospital. As part of city’s rich heritage, Smith is gathering stories to preserve a vital piece of Tallahassee’s history by archiving the stories of people who were born or worked at the hospital.
Now is the time to shake off the winter blues and recharge for springtime. This series of yoga classes will get you moving. Yoga has numerous health benefits, both physical and mental. You can increase strength, balance and flexibility. Movement and deep breathing will help you renew your mental focus and feel more energized. This series is virtual, with classes streaming Tuesdays and Thursday beginning April 9.
Got aches and pains? Some causes of pain, such as arthritis, are unavoidable but you can build a diet from foods that help calm the flame. Chronic inflammation can lead to heart disease and other serious problems. The best defense is to eat anti-inflammatory foods and cut out those that feed inflammatory responses. Luckily, the foods that protect you are also delicious! Chef Robin Asbel will show us how to cook several dishes with anti-inflammatory food.
