Those who wish to take advantage of the 25% reduction in property taxes, which begins in tax year 2026, must register their home as owner-occupied with the property tax division of the Wyoming Department of Revenue. This will allow the state and local assessors to qualify homeowners for the tax break.

Military and firefighting veteran Ross Byrd was honored as AARP Wyoming’s Hero of the Game during the University of Wyoming Cowboys’ Nov. 22 football game with Nevada in Laramie. Byrd and his family received complimentary tickets to the game, parking passes, and dinner, and Byrd was honored on the field during the game.

AARP New York State Director Beth Finkel released the following statement in response to today’s New York State Senate actions on prescription drug legislation:
RALEIGH – If the NC House of Representatives acts in the Short Session, state lawmakers will make substantial progress when it comes to improving both the access and affordability of health care in the state. Following many years exploring healthcare policy changes and a recent bipartisan Joint Legislative Study Committee on Access to Healthcare and Medicaid Expansion, the state Senate passed HB 149 with bipartisan and near unanimous (by one vote) support.
AARP Wyoming is accepting submissions for the Andrus Award for Community Services through July 15. The Andrus Award recognizes individuals who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich their communities.
AARP Oklahoma leadership and volunteers are sending nearly 7,000 petitions to Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners Murphy, Hiett and Anthony Tuesday morning. The petitions from OG&E customers urged the commissioners to deny OG&E’s proposed $164 million OG&E rate hike which would cost customers approximately $10 per month.
