APS’s application seeks to increase electricity rates for residential customers by double digits
AARP Virginia volunteers joined law enforcement and neighborhood watch groups on Aug. 5 to support public safety and raise awareness about the future of Social Security during National Night Out.
As the nation marked the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act, signed into law on Aug. 14, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, AARP Virginia hosted a community event to celebrate the milestone and gather public sentiment on the program’s legacy.

Governor JB Pritzker signed HB 1226, the Road Safety & Fairness Act into law, a bipartisan measure championed by Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and AARP Illinois.
The award is named after AARP Founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus and goes to the state’s top volunteer over the age of 50. The finalists include Charlie Simineo and Tim Sheppard of Cheyenne, and Sheridan’s Carla Crayton.
