As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

Thanks to the help and support of our members, volunteers, and advocates, legislators heard from us and HB 3187 passed the House by a vote of 42-16 and the Senate 20-9. And on May 22, Governor Tina Kotek signed our bill into law.
When it comes to her volunteer contributions, Jackie Storrs does not walk: she has been running at full speed for 10 years, and she says her volunteer experiences keep her physically, mentally and socially active — and provide many rewards in return.

AARP Wyoming has rented 10 lanes for the first 50 people who register that incorporate bowling with prizes, and information on ways to stay safe from scams and fraud. The bowling is free and with every spare, strike, or mark you make gets you free tickets for our drawings. The more you bowl, the more chances you have to win awesome prizes.
The AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide program is offering free tax preparation services across Oklahoma until April 15, focusing on adults with low to moderate income.
