AARP Kansas works across the state to help make life better for our citizens who are 50 and older. We advocate for passage of laws that help Kansas residents remain in their homes and communities. Our work would not be possible without the hundreds of volunteers across our state who devote their time and talents to advocacy, community service, and fraud prevention. We also have volunteers who teach the AARP Driver Safety Program courses throughout the state and who provide free tax assistance through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program.

In Georgia, an estimated 626,070 people, or 25 percent of the rural population, are without access to 25 Mbps/3 Mbps internet service. This lack of high-speed internet, or broadband as it is commonly referred, can have a lasting impact.

February is Black History Month, and to celebrate, AARP Delaware and AARP Pennsylvania are teaming up with the Colored Conventions Project (CCP) to commemorate Douglass Day, the birthday of Frederick Douglass. The day of events begins with a celebration at University of Delaware, with a special reception later in the afternoon at the African American History Museum in Philadelphia.

Beginning February 1 and continuing through April 15, AARP Foundation is providing free tax assistance and preparation through its Tax-Aide program. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service. Since its inception, the program has served more than 50 million taxpayers.

Efforts to improve Florida’s livability are growing. But the Sunshine State still ranked as the nation’s deadliest state for pedestrians, with eight out of the 10 most dangerous metro areas for pedestrians to be found in Florida, according to a new report.
