CHICAGO– Beginning today through April 18, AARP Foundation is providing free tax assistance and preparation through its Tax-Aide program. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, in its 49th year, is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service, offering free tax preparation help to anyone, especially those who are 50 and older, who cannot afford a tax preparation service.

The North Dakota Department of Human Services reminds low-income individuals and families and seniors on limited fixed incomes that help is available through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

All tax counselors are volunteers that are trained by the IRS to provide free tax preparation services. You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service.

Last year, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 19,440 people file their federal and state tax returns.
