Scams & Fraud

As the pandemic has spawned new ways for con artists to trick people out of money, AARP Idaho is holding a telephone town hall with state Attorney General Lawrence Wasden (R) about how consumers can avoid becoming victims.
During difficult financial times it is helpful to know about potential ways to save money as well as collect funds that might be owed to you. Two resources that many older Coloradans might not be familiar with, but should be, are Colorado’s PTC-104 rebate and retrieving unclaimed property/funds in your name.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about you taking a moment to say ‘Hold on, this is not legitimate,’ and just hang up,” said Susan Hogan, Consumer Investigative Reporter for NBC4 in her keynote address.
Don't just toss your sensitive documents...shred 'em for free with AARP! We also have a wealth of valuable information at our AARP Fraud Watch Network workshops about how to stay savvy to the latest scams out there and how to keep yourself and loved ones safe. Our shreds and workshops (often combined) are must-attend events that you don't want to miss! When it comes to our shredding events, please remember: no businesses please, and make sure to remove all plastic and metal clips from documents to be shredded.
AARP Ohio Volunteer Chris Hughes shares why she loves volunteering her time with AARP.
