Every year, AARP collaborates with local leaders, organizations, and dedicated community members to kick-start change. The AARP Community Challenge provides funding for projects that encourage communities to become more livable. These projects aim to improve public spaces, housing, transportation and more to support people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

From September 15 to October 15, AARP New York proudly celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the vibrant cultures, rich histories, and impactful contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities across New York State.

Rodriguez assumes leadership of AARP Texas on Sept. 15 to work on behalf of AARP's 2.5 million Texas members. She will lead staff in Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and more than 400 volunteers statewide.

AARP California Tea & Coffee Tuesdays is a monthly, virtual series connecting you to experts on health, wealth, self and other issues that matter to older adults and their families.

November is Family Caregiving Month and Military Family Month. As a family caregiver, you may be responsible for managing and administering lots of medication. If you have medications in your home that are no longer needed or expired, AARP Long Island encourages you to dispose of them safely this November.

On Friday, September 19th, 2025, AARP Virgin Islands State Director Troy De Chabert-Schuster, is set to testify before the 36th Legislature of the Virgin Islands in support of amendments to the territory’s Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention Act (Bill 36-0099).
