AARP Connecticut has selected seven recipients for its fifth Livable Communities Support Program that funds quick-action projects in Connecticut communities that will help make immediate improvements or jumpstart long-term progress that will support residents. AARP Connecticut has funded 29 projects since the inception of the program in 2018.

Almost 100 Massachusetts communities now belong to the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, uniting local leaders, businesses and residents to improve their area's livability.

The 2023 AARP Ohio Virtual Volunteer Summit will be held Monday, Jan. 30, through Friday, Feb. 3. It will include information on advocacy and volunteer opportunities.

With pedestrians facing dangers on roadways with no sidewalks, AARP Alabama is encouraging residents to conduct walk audits that evaluate the safety—or lack of it—in their communities. Audit findings are shared with elected officials and other local leaders.

The awards range from $5,000 to $25,000 to improve California's livability for all.

AARP Oklahoma presented a $5,000 honorary grant check to Oklahoma State University’s Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service to support OSU’s rural broadband outreach program. 

Available, affordable housing is a key component of a community’s livability and quality of life. This is especially true for people age 50+, the vast majority of whom want to stay in their homes as they age. For them, a variety of housing options is essential.
