Statewide 5th Grade Essay Contest Celebrates Grandparents
• AARP Connecticut will donate $3000 on behalf of the Andrus Award recipient to an eligible non-profit organization of their choosing
AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2018 Kansas Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors 50+ Kansans who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members. The award is named after AARP founder, Ethel Percy Andrus.
AARP is now accepting applications for the 2018 Community Challenge grant program to fund “quick-action” projects that spark change in local communities. The grant program, which is now in its second year, is part of AARP’s nationwide Livable Communities initiative, which aims to make communities great places to live for everyone.
(Ridgeland, MS) – AARP Mississippi is observing Operation Stop Scams with a series of events throughout the state from April 16 – May 21. A shred event will be held from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Metro Center Mall, located at 3645 U.S. 80 in Jackson. A fraud prevention workshop will start at 11 a.m. that day at Metro Center Mall. Another shred event will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on May 19, 2018 in the parking lot of Brown Missionary Baptist Church Family Enrichment Center, located at 980 Stateline Road East in Southaven. Fraud prevention workshops will be presented throughout the state.
AARP Fraud Watch Network, People’s United Bank, N.A. & the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) are joining forces this month to offer free events across the state to help Connecticut residents fight fraud as part of the second annual “Operation: Stop Scams” initiative. Join the AARP Connecticut volunteer team and representatives from People’s United Bank and USPIS at one of the two-hour sessions packed with information!
