AARP salutes those who have served and still serve. We support our veterans and their families with information on career support, caregiving resources, community connections and more. It’s why we’re proud to recognize Veterans that served during the Vietnam Era and their families.

AARP's social impact work is at the heart of all we do. As a strong, nonpartisan advocate for social change at the local, state and national levels, AARP fights for issues that matter to people 50-plus, their families and society. Here in Kansas, our work during the 2019 Kansas Legislative Session will focus on, but is not limited to, the following issues of important to the residents of the Sunflower State:

In honor of Black History Month, we are proud to feature a personal story from our former state pres ident Clarence "Tiger" Davis. Tiger reflects upon his experiences as a black Vietnam veteran reintegrating into a society that did not wholeheartedly welcome him with open arms. However, despite the racism and violence cast on to people that looked like him, he still stood tall for his country. He believed in America and despite the hostility at home, wanted to serve and protect its democracy.

(Ridgeland, MS) - AARP Mississippi applauds the Mississippi Legislature for passing House Bill 366, The Mississippi Broadband Enabling Act. The legislation was signed into law by Governor Phil Bryant today.

We partnered with Super Talk Mississippi to seek nominations for outstanding students who excel in sports and academics. The response was overwhelming! Meet Sema’J Harris, a senior at West Point High School and member of the football team. He was nominated by Coach Chris Chambless.
